Engine and Tanker Run Hay Bale Fire At approximately 08:30hrs on November 21st, Station 63 was dispatched for a Hay Bale fire on Gardner Road in Benton Twp. Engine 63 and Tanker 63 responded and found a number of bales on fire adjacent to the roadway. A 1 ¾ inch line was stretched from Engine 63 and the back breaking work of knocking down the fire began. The Benton Township backhoe was requested to the scene to assist in pulling the bales apart to aid in exposing the fire for extinguishment. Gardner Road Command (Captain 63) requested Engine 9 (Factoryville) to assist with Class A Foam and manpower. Crews from both
stations worked on the extensive extinguishment and overhaul necessary on
these large bales. Units returned to service at approximately 10:30 hours.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Units on scene: Christmas Season to kick off December 6th The Benton Township Lions Club, Michelle Ross, Girl Scouts, Parents, the Benton Township Supervisors, and the fire company will kick off the Christmas Season with their annual community tree lighting on December 6th. This is a great family event. The tree lighting will take place at the Benton Township Community Center at 5:30 PM with the arrival of that Jolly Old Elf, Santa Claus direct from the North Pole aboard Engine 63. After the tree lighting, take part in the precession through Fleetville led by Santa to the Fleetville Fire Company for a popular community event. Dinner and pictures with Santa will start at 6:00 PM. Michelle Ross and her elves will have several activity stations for the kids. Mrs. Ross is coordinating efforts for our popular basket raffle. So come help spread some holiday spirit. The doors are open to EVERYONE. T-63 assists Area 24 on Possible Structure Fire At approx. 18:45 hrs on Nov. 5th, Tanker 63 was dispatched to assist Lackawanna County Station 24 (Greenfield) for a possible structure fire on Spedding Rd. in Greenfield Twp. Greenfield Twp. police corrected the location as Decker Rd. and reported a controlled burn. Chief 24 (F.Bales) had all units stand by at their current locations with the exception of E-24. E-24 arrived on scene and extinguished the controlled burn, while Command 24 had all other units returned to service. T-63 went back in service at the station at approx. 19:10 hrs. Tanker 63 Due on 24 Box On Thursday Oct. 23, at approx. 14:00hrs, Tanker 63 was dispatched to assist Lackawanna County’s Station 24 (Greenfield) for a confirmed structure fire on Decker Rd. in Greenfield Twp. FLEETVILLE FIREFIGHTERS KICK OFF THEIR ANNUAL FUND DRIVE The Fleetville Volunteer Fire Company has launched its annual fund drive. Please watch your mailboxes for your contribution envelope. Our goal this year is to replace the fire company’s 1976 water tanker. Due to mechanical problems, this vehicle has become a danger to firefighters and all others on the road. Your financial assistance can make this venture possible. Please contribute to help protect your community in the time of emergency. Your donations help support maintaining and improving our firefighting and EMS equipment along with funds needed for training. Without your help we can not afford to purchase and maintain the equipment that we need to protect your community. The Fleetville Fire Company is also in need of volunteers! Firefighters, EMT's, and First Responders are in great demand across the entire United States. If you are not interested in becoming an emergency responder there is always the need for help with fundraisers and other community events. Contact any member or stop by the Station for information on joining. Thank you for your continued support. Training Becomes Popular in Fleetville
On Oct. 12th, members from Station 63 completed a 16 hour rural water movement class offered through the Pa State Fire Academy and Bucks County Community College. Check out the training page for more info. Training is becoming very prevalent in Fleetville, over the past few months, members have completed multiple courses such as; Pulsoximetry for BLS, Epinephrine Auto-injector, Rope/High Angle Rescue 1, and Basic Vehicle Rescue Awareness. In addition to these, members are currently enrolled in Truck Company Operations 1, Basic Vehicle Rescue Operations, and a Meth lab awareness class that will be held on Oct. 27th. With training becoming extremely important in today’s fire service, the Fleetville Fire Co. hopes to continue this trend into the future. FOR MORE PHOTOS CLICK HERE
On Thursday Oct. 9, Engine 63 and Squad 63 along with Engine 9 (Factoryville) stand-by for the homecoming bonfire at the Lackawanna Trail High School. The Engine with a crew of 4 and the Squad with a crew of 2 stood by for approx. 2 hours before returning to the station. Pictures coming soon 63 Ends Weekend with 4 Runs and a Community Service While Squad 63 and members of the Fleetville Fire Co. were providing traffic control for a benefit motorcycle ride, the first run of the day was transmitted. At approx. 12:45 hrs on September 14th Squad 63 was dispatched to assist Lackawanna County on Decker Rd. in North Abington Twp. for a patient thrown from a horse. The squad operated on scene for approx. 15 minutes before returning to service. Squad 63 then returned to assist with the motorcycle ride. A second medical call was dispatched just as Squad 63 was clearing up from the motorcycle ride. At approximately 13:40 the Squad 63 along with Ambulance 9 were dispatched for a medical call on Route 438. The third run came in at approx. 20:00 hrs, when Squad 63 along with Rescue and Ambulance 9 (Factoryville) and Nicholson Engine 2 were dispatched for an MVA on Rt. 107 in Nicholson Twp. The squad responded as Chief 9 (Gow) arrived on scene establishing command, reporting a two-car motor vehicle accident with no apparent injuries. Chief 63 (Saxton) arrived on scene verifying that the accident was in Benton Township and assumed command. Engine 63 was then requested to the scene. While operating on this incident, Engine 63 and Tanker 63 were dispatched to assist Station 36 (Scott) on a residential fire alarm. Chief 36 (Tratthen) arrived on scene confirming a false alarm and put all units back in service, before the Engine or Tanker were able to respond. Squad 63 operated on scene of the MVA for approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes before returning to service. Engine and Squad Run 1st Due Pin On September 2nd at approx. 17:00hrs. Engine and Squad 63 were dispatched to Rt. 407 in the area of the Lackawanna State Park for a two car motor vehicle accident with injuries. Engine 5 and Ambulance 5-9 (Dalton) had already been dispatched by Lackawanna County. Chief 5A (Melnikoff) arrived on scene first reporting the incident to be at Wallsville Corners, the intersection of Rt. 407 and Rt. 438. He requested Rescue 36 and Ambulance 36-9 (Scott) to the scene. Chief 63 (Saxton) arrived on scene and assumed the Wallsville command reporting 4 patients, with 1 trapped in the vehicle, and requested a Rescue and Ambulance from Station 9 (Factoryville). Engine 63 arrived on scene and the crew started to make purchase points in the door for the hydraulic tools. Engine 5 arrived on scene and their crew along with the crew from 63 extricated the patient who was transported by 5-9. Ambulance 36-9 and 9-9 transported the other patients. Both vehicles were removed from the roadway and command was terminated. Units operated on scene for approx. 45 minutes. Units on the run: E-63, Sq-63, E-5, 5-9, R-36, 36-9,9-9, PSP Dunmore Mutual Aid response to Scott Hose Company At approximately 21:00 hours on August 18, Station 63 was special requested by Scott Chief for an engine and tanker to assist on a tractor trailer fire on Interstate 81. Chief Tratthen (Scott Hose Company) requested Tanker 63 respond first and then Engine 63 to respond second. Engine and Tanker 63 both crewed for the assist. While responding Chief Tratthen requested Tanker 63 to stage at Duchnick’s Service Station and Engine 63 was to proceed to the scene at mile marker 200.5 south. Upon arrival the Engine 63 crew was requested to help exhausted personnel from Scott and Justus in overhaul operations. Units operated on scene for approximately 1 hour. Units Operating: Engine 36, Engine 63, Tanker 36, Tanker 28, Tanker 63, Rescue 28, Ambulance 36-9, PSP Dunmore, and Scott Township Police 63 Responds to Two Motor Vehicle Accidents on Back to Back Nights
On Monday morning at approximately 03:00
hrs Engine 63 and Squad 63 along with Factoryville Rescue and Ambulance were
dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the area of Farnham Road and
Baylors Lake Road. It was unsure if there were occupants in the vehicle.
Chief 63 (Saxton) arrived on scene reporting one vehicle over the
embankment with power lines down. Upon accessing the vehicle it was found
that there were no occupants. Rescue 9 and Ambulance 9 were canceled, and a
search of the area was completed. Station 63 units remained on scene until
PPL arrived to begin restoring the power lines.
On July, 26th
station 63 hosted the third and final leg of an archery tournament
triple crown 63 Ends Weekend with First Due Accident At approx. 20:30 hrs. on Sunday, July 20, Engine 63 and Squad 63 along with Rescue 36 and Ambulance 36-9 were dispatched to the intersection of Rt. 107 and Jordan Hollow Rd. in Benton Twp. for a motor vehicle accident. Chief 36-B (Richardson) arrived on scene reporting one truck over the embankment with the trailer it was towing only partially over the embankment, and multiple patients already out of the vehicle. Chief 63 (Saxton) arrived on scene and assumed command, requesting that Engine 63 stage above the scene for traffic control and Squad 63 come into the scene to obtain refusals. Rescue 36 was staged below the scene to also assist with traffic control while 36-9 came into the scene for patient evaluation. Squad 63 obtained three patient refusals while 36-9 transported one patient. Due to the location of the vehicle Engine 63 was then brought into the scene for lighting. The vehicle and trailer were removed from the scene and all units returned to service after operating on scene for approx. 2 hours.

Car Show Held to Benefit Fire Co. On July 6th, a car show was held at Gracey Farms on Rt. 107 in Fleetville, to benefit the Fleetville Fire Co. Crews spent most of the day taking care of traffic control, registering show cars, and parking spectator cars. Approximately 175 cars were registered at the 3rd Annual Gracey Farms Car Show. Despite hot temperatures the turn out was incredible. There was great food, good music, and arts and crafts. Numerous pilots were on site displaying and flying their remote control airplanes throughout the day. The Fleetville Fire Co. would like to thank everyone involved, especially Jay Sasall, Jerry Dipple, and the rest of the car show volunteers.

63 Double Pulls for 1st Due
structure fire Factoryville Engine 9 established a water supply for the tanker shuttle at the pond at the Fleetville Fire Station just up the road. Command 63 requested Peckville Engine 20 to the scene to assist already exhausted crews with the extensive overhaul that was required. Due to the collapse of the barn roof, the Benton Twp. backhoe was also requested to the scene so that the front of the building could be pulled apart and wet down. Upon its arrival crews finished the overhaul and started to break down. Station 63 operated on scene for approx. 5 hrs. Units on the Box:

Tanker 5, E-26-1 (standby at Scott) 63 Empties House for Memorial Day Structure Fire
Engine and Squad Run Afternoon Rollover At approx. 1330hrs. on May 18, Engine and Squad 63 were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover on Rt. 438 just west of Hack Rd. Chief 63 (Saxton) arrived on scene establishing the Wallsville Rd. command reporting one patient refusal. Squad 63 arrived on scene and obtained the refusal, while Engine 63 controlled traffic and some light fluids down on the roadway. Units operated on scene for approx. 30 minutes before returning to service.
