Starts Early for 63
At approximately 06:00hrs,
Station 63 along with Rescue 9 and Ambulance 9 (Factoryville) were
dispatched to the report of a one car MVA at the intersection of Rt. 107 and
Marshbrook Rd. While en-route, units were advised of 2 other incidents in
the area. Engine 63 and Squad 63 were forced to stop on Rt. 107, just east
of Fleetville corners, for a truck pulling a camper jackknifed in the
roadway, along with a van that had run into it. Units discovered the call
at Marshbrook Rd. unfounded, along with the other incidents. Ambulance 9
transported a patient BLS, while Rescue 9 took traffic at the corners, with
Engine 63 and Squad 63 on scene obtaining refusals and controlling hazards.
Units operated on scene for approximately 1 hour.

Handles Cow VS. Car

At approximately 18:30hrs on Sunday,
November 15, 2009
Engine 63 along with
Squad 63 and 36-9 (Scott Twp.) were alerted to the report of a car vs. cow
on Jordan Hollow Rd. in Benton Twp. 63-34 (M.Ryman) marked on scene
confirming the car vs. cow, reporting one patient out of the vehicle,
probable refusal. Engine 63 handled traffic and debris on the roadway,
while Squad 63 and 36-9 obtained the patient refusal. Crews cleared the
scene around 19:30 hours, after a failed attempt to wrangle another cow
found in the roadway just before the scene.
Engine
and Tanker Run Hay Bale Fire
At approximately 08:30hrs on
November 21, 2008, Station 63 was dispatched for a Hay
Bale fire on Gardner Road in Benton Twp. Engine 63 and Tanker 63 responded
and found a number of bales on fire adjacent to the roadway. A 1 ¾ inch
line was stretched from Engine 63 and the back breaking work of knocking
down the fire began. The Benton Township backhoe was requested to the scene
to assist in pulling the bales apart to aid in exposing the fire for extinguishment.
Gardner Road Command (Captain 63) requested Engine 9
(Factoryville) to assist with Class A Foam and manpower.
Crews from both
stations worked on the extensive extinguishment and overhaul necessary on
these large bales. Units returned to service at approximately 10:30 hours.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

T-63 assists Area 24 on Possible Structure
Fire
At approx. 18:45 hrs on
Nov. 5, 2008, Tanker 63 was dispatched to assist Lackawanna County
Station 24 (Greenfield) for a possible structure fire on Spedding Rd. in
Greenfield Twp. Greenfield Twp. police corrected the location as Decker Rd.
and reported a controlled burn. Chief 24 (F.Bales) had all units stand
by at their current locations with the exception of E-24. E-24 arrived
on scene and extinguished the controlled burn, while Command 24 had all
other units returned to service. T-63 went back in service at the
station at approx. 19:10 hrs.
