Training With 24

On Tuesday
October 13, 2009, Station 63 along with Station 24 (Greenfield)
spent a few hours training on the topic of Rapid Intervention Teams (RIT).
Crews first reviewed the different SCBA that both companies use, along with
their different RIT packs. Crews then ran through a few different
scenarios, hooking the RIT packs up to a downed firefighter. Crews plan on
getting together again in the future, to train on this and other topics.

63 Ends
The Night With Back To Back Runs
At
approximately 19:00hrs on Thursday
October 1, 2009, Station 63 was dispatched
along with Rescue 9 and Ambulance 9 (Factoryville) for the 1 car motor
vehicle accident on Rt. 438, 1 mile East of Rt. 407. 63-34 (M. Ryman)
marked on scene first correcting the location to be near the intersection of
Rt.438 and Rowlands Rd. reporting a minivan into a tree, still partially on
the roadway with only 1 male patient. Chief 63 (Saxton) arrived shortly and
established the "438 Command". Engine 63 was brought into the scene for
lighting while Squad 63 stopped traffic on the opposite end of the scene.
Rescue 9 came into the scene for manpower due to the patient being over a
slight embankment, and Ambulance 9 transported along with ALS.
As crews were pulling into the station from the first run, Engine 63 was
dispatched to assist Lackawanna County Station 36 (Scott Twp.) for the
possible structure fire on Tompkinsville Rd. Engine 63 was on the road
within a minute, but was requested to stand-by at the present location.
Engine 63 was eventually requested into the scene for manpower to assist
with overhaul operations. The Engine was also used to establish a fill
site. Station 63 finally returned to service around 20:30 hours.
Tanker
63 Due on 24 BoxOn Thursday
Oct. 23, 2008,
at approx. 14:00hrs, Tanker 63 was dispatched to assist Lackawanna County’s
Station 24 (Greenfield) for a confirmed structure fire on Decker Rd. in
Greenfield Twp. Crews from E-24 made a quick knock down of the fire, and
all units were returned to service by command.
Tanker
63 Runs 2 Alarm Fire in Area 18
At
approx. 15:00hrs on Oct. 20,
2008, Tanker 63 was dispatched to assist Station 18
(Clifford) for a working barn fire in the area of the
intersection of Rt. 106 and Rt. 374 in Royal. Chief 18-1 (W. Turner)
arrived on scene reporting a fully involved barn fire that was
causing a brush fire in the surrounding wooded area. Tanker 63
responded with a full crew and additional members responded to the
scene. Tanker 63 was placed in staging and then returned to service
around 17:00hrs. Brush 63 was also requested to respond, but was
not able to crew.

Training Becomes Popular in Fleetville
On
Oct. 12, 2008,
members from Station 63 completed a 16 hour rural water movement class
offered through the Pa State Fire Academy and Bucks County Community
College. Check out the training page for more info. Training is becoming
very prevalent in Fleetville, over the past few months, members have
completed multiple courses such as; Pulsoximetry for BLS, Epinephrine
Auto-injector, Rope/High Angle Rescue 1, and Basic Vehicle Rescue
Awareness. In addition to these, members are currently enrolled in Truck Company
Operations 1, Basic Vehicle Rescue Operations, and a Meth lab awareness
class that will be held on Oct. 27th. With training becoming
extremely important in today’s fire service, the Fleetville Fire Co. hopes
to continue this trend into the future.

Engine
and Squad stand-by at Bonfire
On Thursday
Oct. 9, 2008,
Engine 63 and Squad 63 along with Engine 9 (Factoryville) stand-by for the
homecoming bonfire at the Lackawanna Trail High School. The Engine with a
crew of 4 and the Squad with a crew of 2 stood by for approx. 2 hours before
returning to the station.
